Here we have the convenience of a monitor, recorder, and 4-input switcher all in one. What's even better is that we've got everything in a kit form with pretty much everything you'll need except for recording media (available below in "Related Products")
The Atomos Shogun is well known across the industry as a reliable workhorse that is built well and receives frequent feature updates via firmware. (For your convenience, we do our best to make sure it has the latest version in time for your rental)
This model is the 7" touchscreen, with 4K input via HDMI as well as 12G SDI. The screen is quite bright for use outside, and we also include a sunhood to help with glare. Its native resolution is 1920 x 1200, but will accept 4K inputs and scale them appropriately for display. There are built-in preset color profiles for all kinds of standard log formats (Canon, Nikon, RED, Sony, etc).
When recording, the monitor supports resolutions up to 4096 x 2160 at 60p. If you're shooting slow motion, you can record 2K up to 240 fps. The recording goes straight to 2.5" SSDs and can be in Apple ProRes Raw, Pro Res, CinemaDMG (up to 30p), and DNxHD codecs.
The monitor has 2 L-series battery slots, allowing for "hot swapping" to keep you shooting all day. This handy kit comes with 2 of those batteries (5200mAh each), along with a charger, an AC adapter for the monitor, a D-tap power cable, and a USB docking station for easy transfer.
