This new Canon flagship Speedlight brings a host of new features over the 580EX-II. To name a few, it's capable of:
- Wirelessly connecting up to 15 total 600-EX units via two-way RF in up to 5 groups while doing E-TTL, using 1 of 15 different channels.
- Triggering/being triggered at up to 30 meters away through built-in RF.
- Zooming up to the equivalent coverage of a 200mm lens (compared to the 105mm coverage of the 580EX-II).
- Emitting a specialized focus-assist beam to take advantage of the 61-point AF systems on the newer Canon bodies.
Additionally, it has much better dust and moisture resistance, can be controlled completely through the camera it's attached to, and has a completely redesigned & updated dot-matrix LCD panel and control layout.
