Canon designed a Super35 DGO (Dual Gain Output) sensor for capturing footage with 16 stops of dynamic range. Paired to that is Canon's famed Dual Pixel CMOS AF system for incredibly fast and accurate autofocus.
All these systems combine to give you 4K 120p footage (or even 180fps in 2K cropped mode). For codecs, you get acces to XF-AVC (regular, Intra, and Long GOP). That gives you 10 bit 4:2:2 DCI 4K images to drool over. Naturally you also get Canon's Log 2 and Log 3 modes for the ultimate in color grading during post production.
One incredibly handy thing this camera allows is the use of SD cards. In fact, it has two slots for them, with all the usual functions like mirroring, overflow, and MP4 proxy recording.
It is the first Canon cinema body to offer the RF lens mount, and we are very impressed.
