Canon RF 100-500mm f/4.5-7.1L IS

In the realm of telephoto zooms, this focal length has proven itself time and time again. This refresh for the RF mount adds 100mm to the long end relative to its EF predecessor, which is just one way that they took a good thing and made it even better.

Anyone who has used the EF 100-400 will immediately be familiar with this lens, and that's a good thing. Using a telescoping design allows the lens to be relatively compact in its "rest" position (at 100mm). Simply twist the large grip to fully extend it out to 500mm.

We commonly recommend this lens for safaris, wildlife, birding, and even for some sports (mostly daytime events due to its aperture). It makes for a wonderful addition to your camera bag if you're traveling and need the reach (but not the bulk) of a traditional telephoto lens. The Image Stabilization is rated for up to 5 stops with the lens alone, and up to an amazing 8 stops when paired with the new batch of Canon mirrorless cameras.

As with all RF lenses, this one adds the versatile and functional Control Ring, which can be used to adjust all kinds of settings, from aperture to exposure compensation to ISO.
