The latest generation of the venerable GoPro action camera is here, and it's looking like the best improvement in many generations. You get 4K at 60 FPS and an amazing 240 FPS at full HD. If you're interested in the photo side, you get 12 MP stills at up to 30 frames per second in short bursts.
In keeping with the past two generations, the case of the unit is waterproof up to 33'. This is good enough for keeping it safe in the rain or snow. If you're going snorkeling, we prefer that you use the Super Suit dive housing that we also carry (listed below). GoPro has improved the audio performance of the built-in mic based on feedback from the Hero 5 and Hero 6.
The killer app that GoPro is pushing with this model is the inclusion of "Hyper Smooth", which is their term for the built-in image stabilization. While it isn't quite a gimbal killer, it is very, very good (especially when used in good light). In fact, unless you're doing rough mountain biking or other extra-jolting activities, we think it's good enough to replace any other stabilization.
